Powerstop Track Day Pads

I've now run two sets of the Powerstop Trackday brake pads on my C5 Corvette with the Caddillac Brembos and feel I can safely review them. There were things I liked about the brake pads, and things that definitely weren't as good. I personally cannot recommend them, but perhaps some of the details that were redeeming about them will overshadow the cons I couldn't overlook.

A set of worn powerstop trackday brake pads, with a slight overhang from the C5 Caddillac Brembo brake setup.

PROS:

  • Half the price of most other brake pad options out there at approximately $130 shipped.
  • Good brake feel from cold and never once was concerned about temperature.
  • Good but not excessive initial bite.

CONS:

  • Only last 3 track days.
  • EXTREME amounts of caustic brake dust.
  • MASSIVE rotor wear. After one set of Track day pads my rotors had discernable and wide grooves. By the end of a second set of track day pads the rotors had such wide grooves I don't think they were salvagable anymore.
  • While other brake pads cost 2x as much, they last 2-3x as long and don't eat rotors, further justifying their higher cost.
